Gleaning Project

The Gleaning Project has been a very successful project that really got off the ground in the summer of 2011, following the Food Security Forum held in March.  It was identified as one of the priorities the participants wanted to see happen locally.

How it works:  if people have extra fruit, or have fruit trees they can't pick for whatever reason, or have fruit they don't want to see go to waste (or attract bears), they can call us and we will send out a call (by email) to people who have signed up with us to be pickers.  The fruit is be shared among the pickers and the fruit owners if they want any, and often, some goes to the local food bank.

If you have extra fruit (or vegetables!), or want to be on the pickers' list, call Angela at 250-256-0470.
